Pleasantly Cursed is the debut release from the soulful, organic rock band Flowerchild. Vocalist Gregory Vitale and his producer Jeff Martin (Tea Party) began recording the album in 2008 at Jeff’s Kingdom Studios in Durrus, County Cork, Ireland. Gregory co-wrote the songs with longtime friend and guitarist Simon Jones along with Jeff who also played bass, lead guitars, and keyboards. Drummer and Ireland native Wally Walden, who also contributed to the recording sessions, subsequently moved to Canada to be the backbeat of Flower Child. Kyle Texeira rounds out the rhythm section on bass guitar and Yurko Mychaluk on lead guitar. After several trips 'across the pond' to finish the recording in Ireland, Jeff suggested mixing the CD in Australia. While recording in Ireland provided a good surrounding for the initial sculpting of each song, Australia was the perfect backdrop for fresh perspective. Using old school analog equipment, their music has a strong Led Zeppelin influence. They also used unique ancient instruments such as a hurdy gurdy to get back at the roots, which is the type of soul their music is all about.
